Review of Lone Star Park Horse Racing Track in Texas

Lone Star Park is located in Grand Prairie, Texas.  Lone Star Park offers both thoroughbred and quarter horse racing track.  However, horse bettors that visit Lone Star Park can enjoy a year-round calendar of live and simulcast racing at Lone Star Park Lone Star Park provides premium horse racing in exceptional facilities, Lone Star Park offers a memorable experience.

Lone Star Park was established in 1997.  However, it came under the management of Magna Entertainment Corp in 2002 and in 2004 shot to fame when the Breeders' Cup was hosted at Lone Star Park.

Lone Star Park encompasses an area of about 315 acres.  Lone Star Park has a 1 mile oval track with a running surface of sand, clay and silt.  In addition, Lone Star Park has a 7 furlong turf track.  Thoroughbred race between April and December and from October to December the quarter horses also draw crowds.

Lone Star Park hosts the following graded stakes: Dallas Turf Cup, Texas Mile Stakes, Winstar Distaff Handicap, Lone Star Park Handicap and Walmac Lone Star Derby.  In addition, a vast selection of other stakes and handicaps are run during the season.  Lone Star Park has 32 barns and can provide stabling for 1,600 horses.  In addition, Lone Star Park has accommodation for 50 jockey quarters.   The grandstand at Lone Star Park has seating for 8,000 spectators. Patrons can have a good look at the horses preparing to race at the Saddling Paddock.  

During the off-season when there is no live racing at Lone Star Park, racegoers can still enjoy the thrill of horse racing at the Post Time Pavilion by simulcast.  Lone Star Park has a complete simulcast calendar featuring races from around the country and is open all week throughout the year.  Unlike many horse racing tracks, Lone Star Park offers entertainment for the whole family with the 15 acre family fun park.
